There are several ways.

  • Limit strenuous work and take frequent breaks while working in hot and humid environments.
  • Wear breathable, loose-fitting clothing, and sun protection clothing including a hat or hard hat shade.
  • Wear cooling clothing such as a body cooling vest or a cooling bandana. Or have a cooling microfiber towel available.
  • Pay attention to how you feel and be aware of heat stress symptoms.
  • Do not drink large amounts of caffeine, alcohol or sugar, which can dehydrate the body.
